Brief historical review

Founded by Prof. Villanueva as a research collection (Madrid, 1960), it passed through several Spanish cities until it reached the University of Valencia. The first edition of the Public Catalog (1976) contained 436 strains. In 2018 it exceeded 7,600 strains and increases at a rate of 185 public deposits / year since 2010.
