VIII Symposium WFCC-MIRCEN World Data Center for Microorganisms

Researchers of the Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT), Dr. David R. Arahal and Dr. Teresa Lucena Reyes, have been invited to the GCM 2.0 type strain sequencing project workshop that will take place from November 21 to 30, 2018 in Beijing, China. This workshop is framed around the VIII Symposium organized by the WFCC-MIRCEN World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM) of the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The international project for sequencing type strains, led by the Global Catalog of Microorganisms (GCM), aims to close the gap in microbial biodiversity in relation to the representativeness of genomic sequences of type strains and promote research to deepen the analysis of genomic data. With the invitation of taxonomists, microbiologists and bioinformatics, collaboration in data analysis and publication of genomic sequence results worldwide is promoted.
